It looks like nothing can kill Simone Biles’ determination, not even a kidney stone! It turns out that the Olympic gymnast was in the hospital just hours before the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships qualifying rounds and not practicing.
The 21-year-old took to social media to post evidence of her being in a hospital bed at the time, and alongside the pics, she wrote: ‘Nothing like a late night ER visit less than 24 hrs before world championships. This kidney stone can wait …. doing it for my team! I will be gucci girls.’

Sure enough, it looks like the athlete did as promised and postponed having her stone removed in order to compete in Qatar.
‘We will deal with it after world championships! fingers crossed it stays okay!!!’ she tweeted in response to a confused fan.
Yesterday, during the qualifying rounds, Simone placed the highest for floor, beam, vault as well as individual all-around!
She placed second on the uneven bars as well, allowing her to be part of all four events and the individual all-around in the finals!
Furthermore, Simone had the highest overall ranking among all of the female gymnasts there, contributing to the U.S. being number one as well, with almost nine points more than the second place country, Russia.
During an interview for USA Gymnastics, Simone stated: ‘We had to go to the ER because I have been having stomach pains on the right side for two days and we started to think that it was my appendix, so we just wanted to go as a precaution and then we got tests done just to see what it was and then they found a kidney stone. Even when I am walking or doing some stretches, I am in a bit of pain, so adrenaline helps.’
