Simon Cowell is the latest star to declare his love for BTS! Just before the K-Pop group’s much-anticipated appearance and performance on America’s Got Talent, Simon talked to HollywoodLife, telling the outlet that he is not at all shocked the genre is taking over the music industry.
To be fair, Simon Cowell knows bands and groups very well considering he’s the man behind names like Little Mix, Westlife, Fifth Harmony, and One Direction!
That being said, there’s no surprise he was apparently able to predict the huge success of K-Pop considering the music genre coming from South Korea is known for its amazing boy and girl groups.
He told the outlet that ‘It’s like a wave! I had a meeting with Sony three years ago, and I remember telling them that there’s this thing that’s about to come from the east and it’s called K-Pop, and it is going to crash on here. They were like, ‘Whachu you talking about?’ So I’m not surprised, and this is just the beginning.’
And here we are, a couple of years later anticipating the performance of BTS’s Idol single on AGT tonight!
The boys talked about their music and more in an interview with the Grammy Museum’s artistic director Scott Goldman, per Soompi.
Suga shared that ‘I believe the fact that we express our thoughts and feelings in our music is what’s been the driving force that has helped us get where we are now. I think we have been able to create good music across a variety of genres because we also worked closely in tandem with our agency.’
When it was Jimin’s turn to speak, he, as always, praised the other members, giving them full credit for the huge success of the group.
‘The members always create such great melodies and lyrics.’
About their dynamic and teamwork, he shared that ‘When we reach a moment in the recording process when we have differing opinions, we get together and have long conversations. We put in the effort to solve the situation in a good direction.’
But more than anything or to anyone else, BTS knows they owe their success to the massive support of the ARMY.
‘Our fans have given BTS wings. They’ve helped us get this far, and because of that, we have a very close bond with our fans. Our achievements have been possible only because of our fans. Our ‘Love Yourself’ tour is not just BTS performing, it is a space for us to share an experience with our fans,’ Jin told the outlet.
