Princess Leia from the Star Wars franchise deserves her place among the official Disney princesses like Cinderella, Snow White and Belle, at least according to Cody Christensen.
Christensen launched a petition on Change.org, to have Princess Leila named an official Disney princess.
The Disney princess designation typically applies to animated characters and is mainly used as an advertising tool.
“What we are asking is that the Walt Disney Corporation hold a full ceremony inducting Leia,” Christensen wrote on his petition.
Christensen says that Princess Leia is a positive role model for his forms and would make a great addition.
By Thursday his petition had already received 60,000 signatures on the website. He’s hoping for 75.000.
Disney – which bought Lucasfilm in 2012 for $4-billion, still has not responded to the request.
In addition to claiming the coronation of Leia, who came to life for the first time on screen in 1977 thanks to the late Carrie Fisher in the first Star Wars film, the petition requests that a memorial service is created in honor of the late actress.
