Much to the relief of many fans who were having none of it, we have learned that Justin Timberlake will not be including a hologram of Prince in his Super Bowl Halftime performance. As you may already be aware, soon after rumors started going around that Timberlake who is a huge fan of the late legend was planning on having a hologram of him at his show, many fans, as well as people from Prince’s inner circle, slammed the idea.
One of those against it was none other than the singer’s longtime collaborator Sheila E!
She took to social media to reveal that ‘Prince told me do not ever let anyone do a hologram of me. Not cool if this happens!’
But she was not just disappointed by the speculations, she actually took action.
After personally talking about it with Justin, she was able to confirm that there will be no hologram at the Super Bowl.
‘Family, I spoke with Justin tonight and he shared heartfelt words of respect for Prince and the Purple fans. I look forward to seeing what I am sure is going to be a spectacular halftime show. There is no hologram,’ she tweeted.
We’re sure fans are relieved! Back in 1998, Prince actually discussed the technology of having a dead artist perform again, calling it ‘demonic.’
‘That is the most demonic thing imaginable. Everything is as it is, and it should be. If I were meant to jam with Duke Ellington, we’d have lived in the same age. That whole virtual reality thing… it’s really demonic. And I’m not a demon,’ Prince said during an interview.
Timberlake has been a huge fan of Prince ever since she was no older than 4!
As you can imagine, he was completely devastated to learn about the legend’s passing back in 2016.
His tribute to Prince read: ‘He is somewhere within every song I have ever written. I’m sad, but I’ll smile when I think of every second I had the fortune of being in his company. We’ve lost our greatest living musician. But his music will never die.’
