Shawn Mendes Confesses That His Sudden Rise To Fame Caused Him To Suffer From Anxiety!

Shawn Mendes opened up about a problem a lot of us deal with but some more than others! The singer revealed that he used to struggle with a lot of anxiety, but it all ended around his 18th birthday amidst the first tour he headlined.
However, there’s still a silver lining to this – him dealing with an anxiety disorder inspired his song, In My Blood.
Apparently, before releasing the single, ‘I was so worried people were going to be like, ‘This kid’s always sad.’
But that was not the case. In fact, ‘People I have not spoken to in years started texting and emailing me like, ‘Dude, this is really important that you did this.’’
As you probably already know, Shawn started as a Viner, so his sudden rise to fame was so hard to deal with that his entire reality was distorted.
‘I was in such a bad head space. It is so overwhelming to be successful. And that sounds like such a s**tty thing to say. But it is like, how do you keep it going? How do you sustain success when you do not even really know why you are successful? Dude, it was the worst. I would break down in tears once a week. I used to think everyone was out to get me,’ the singer confessed.
After his tour came to an end, he took the time to focus on his problems and now, to relax, Shawn drinks from time to time (he is legal in Canada) but never too much as he wouldn’t want to end up like many other teen stars before him.
‘There is a thing in my head: Be careful. Be careful.’
With Mendes’ new album he wanted to show his fans a more mature side of him.
He knows all too well the image he has: ‘Shawn Mendes, the good boy. The kid who’s super-sweet.’
And while ‘that is not a bad thing. I also wanted people to understand that I am human, too. I wanted to write about things I have gone through.’
