Shamari DeVoe is starring in her first season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. But, if some fans had their way, it would be her last. Is it possible that Marlo Hampton will step in and take Devoe’s place for Season 12?
This past weekend, Devoe shared a throwback summer selfie that coincided with the latest RHOA episode where she and her husband, Ronnie DeVoe, attended a couple’s dinner called “Boobs and Bourbon.” Shamari was just trying to give fans a closer look at the outfit she wore to the event – a lacy black top and matching choker – but fans had a mixed reaction to the post.
After one fan commented that Shamari should give her peach to Hampton, other fans revealed that they had the same opinion.
“@shamaridevoe #RHOA needs to take your [peach] and give it to Marlo Hampton @marlohampton,” wrote one fan. Another added, “Exactly my opinion!!! Marlo Hampton needs a peach!! Shamari just doesn’t fit in with the other girls.”
A third RHOA fan wrote, “I’m sorry, but she needs to earn her Peach just like everyone else! Being married to Ronnie didn’t do much for the show.”
However, not all of the comments were negative. Some fans joined the conversation to let Shamari know that they liked her and were glad that she “injected some youth into the cast.”
During Season 11, Shamari’s RHOA storyline has revolved around her admission that she and Ronnie were in an open relationship for about a year-and-a-half. And, even though that has ended, she is still sharing juicy details about the unconventional experience.
“As long as I was able to go about in my bi-curious ways then I was cool with that,” Shamari said during an RHOA episode. “I didn’t want to be with another man because I had my husband. I ended up sleeping with two women during that time. He probably slept with about 10. I started the open relationship, and I stopped the open relationship. I realized the grass wasn’t greener.”
Another issue that has come up for the couple is the fact that they owe the IRS more than $300,000 in back taxes. They didn’t discuss this on RHOA, but multiple outlets have reported on the massive tax lien from 2013, and Ronnie addressed the issue during a recent interview.
The New Edition singer said that there is some truth to everything in life, and we’ve all had tax challenges. He added that he is making payments, and it isn’t something that he is running away from.
For now you can catch Shamari DeVoe on new episodes of the Real Housewives of Atlanta Sunday nights on Bravo.
