The Colombian native, Shakira, didn’t attend this year’s Grammy Awards but she made history in a big way. The 40-year-old took to Instagram today to say “thank you” to her fans and followers following her second win of the Best Latin Pop Album category.
Shakira shared one video in English and the other in Spanish. The singer said that she had “just heard” that she and her team had won the award and it’s “unbelievable.”
She said, “thank you so much for your support with this album and to my entire career.”
The Recording Academy shared in a tweet that her latest record, El Dorado, was among the nominee’s for Best Latin Pop Album and she won that category seventeen years ago for her MTV Unplugged performance.

On Friday, Shakira released the music video for her song, “Trap,” featuring Maluma. Maluma said to E! News previously that there is a new genre of music happening in Barcelona in the streets as well as in the underground world, and their song together borrows from that style.
It’s been a great week for Shakira who recently celebrated her son, Milan Pique’s 5th birthday, and her youngest son’s birthday who just turned 3-years-old.
Sources close to the pop star said, “Shakira is so happy that all of this good news is coming at the same time. She has worked hard to make a successful career, and now her family life is taking off in a great way too.”
However, as you may know, the singer recently found herself in trouble as she is currently under investigation for tax evasion. The superstar faces possible jail time if she is successfully convicted of the crimes.
