Mercedes “MJ” Javid, the 46-year-old star of Bravo’s Shahs of Sunset, is pregnant with her first child. Javid and her husband, Tommy Feight, revealed the news this week just after they found out.
The couple got married in April, and they filmed the baby announcement for the upcoming Shahs of Sunset reunion. Javid’s wedding and her struggles with fertility have been a storyline on the Bravo reality show this season, and just a few weeks ago she talked about her experience with IVF treatments.
“We’re almost done, so fingers crossed we’ll be starting a family in the near future,” she said. “The biggest message to women on this journey is to find a good support network or support group or people who have gone through it and talk about it because it’ll probably feel better the more questions you ask.”
Fans have watched this season as Javid talked about her road to motherhood with a fertility doctor, and she has also opened up in interviews about IVF and embryo transfer. Earlier this summer, on Jeff Lewis Live, she said that she had frozen eggs and had made embryos, and she and her husband were preparing for a successful transfer.
Javid added that she was hopeful that she could say in about six months that she was pregnant. But now, it looks like the good news came sooner than expected.
According to Bravo’s Daily Dish, IVF has been a difficult and painful process for Javid. She says a lot of unexpected things had happened, and there has been a lot of bumps in the road. Javid also revealed that the side effects of the medication have been awful because they make her moody, bloated, and cause migraines. However, she says that it is worth it in the end.
Javid and Feight don’t yet know the gender of their baby, but she says it doesn’t matter if they have a boy or a girl. However, she would ultimately like to have two kids, and she would like them to be close in age. Javid says it would be ideal for her to get pregnant, get over the postpartum, and then have another one right away.
Over the years, Mercedes Javid has been very open about her desire to start a family, and she is more than ready for her first baby to arrive. She says she is “very ready” to be a mom, and she is looking forward to everything that comes with being pregnant, including the morning sickness.
New episodes of Shahs of Sunset air Thursday nights on Bravo.
