Serena Williams Returns To Tennis Four Months After Giving Birth

Serena Williams made her way back on to the tennis court after a year of maternity leave following the birth of her first baby with her husband, Alexis Ohanian. Despite her recent string of successes, including her lavish wedding ceremony and birth of her child, Serena’s comeback was a loss on the court.
Four months after she and Alexis welcomed Alexis Olympia in the world, Williams played an exhibition match against French Open champion, Jelena Ostapenko – whose name coincidentally rhymes with Williams’.
After she lost the match, Serena said she is excited to be back on the court, so the loss didn’t bother her. She’s just happy to be back swinging the racket.
Serena said the first match after a break is always the hardest, especially after having a baby, so either way, she’s happy to be returning to the sport.
As you may know, this is Selena’s first game since she won the Grand Slam title during the 2017 Australian Open in January – when she was nine weeks pregnant, a feat of which she was undoubtedly proud.
During the match in Abu Dhabi, Ohanian – the co-founder of Reddit – cheered on his wife and the mother of his child. Just one day before the game posted several pictures of herself while at the 2017 Australian Open where she joyfully looked back at that time of her life.
Williams said the entire year had been great for her. We wish the same thing could be said for her sister, Venus Williams, who found herself involved in a fatal car crash. However, Venus was determined to not be at fault for the accident which killed one person.
