Being the mother of an infant while also working in such a competitive industry is not easy. While Serena Williams seems to be handling both jobs perfectly, there are still some cons to her lifestyle.
The tennis champion opened up about the struggles of balancing both and revealed that her baby daughter has started to walk, but she, unfortunately, missed her first steps which caused her to be very upset.
Serena took to social media today to tell her followers: ‘She took her first steps… I was training and missed it. I cried.’
After winning her third-round match yesterday, Serena is still in the running for her eighth title at the London Wimbledon tournament.
Williams defeated French representative Kristina Mladenovic and is set to face Russian competitor Evgeniya Rodina this upcoming Monday.
The sportswoman seemed very happy before learning about her baby girl making her first steps without her.
Serena has been receiving a lot of support from her family in London, and that caused her to be in high spirits.
Alexis Ohanian, her husband, has been cheering her own from the sidelines and even their baby Olympia made an appearance on the court.
The moment was documented in an adorable pic.
Williams opened up about mom guilt back in March as well.
‘Working motherhood is real. It’s so real. But I have priorities, and Olympia is that. Alexis works all the time as well. He is not even here right now, he is working on his new VC fund. So, that’s great!’
‘But I am never a day without Olympia. She’s my priority, and every day I need to be home with her. I don’t wanna miss any moments with her,’ she told ET at the time.
‘I definitely want two [kids], God willing. But right now, I want tennis as well. So, I’m going to wait and see what happens,’ Serena added.
