According to new reports, it looks like Selena Gomez and her mother Mandy Teefey have more than just one reason to feud these days. Apparently, aside from disapproving of her daughter’s decision to reunite with Justin Bieber, Mandy has also made it very clear that she is definitely not a fan of Selena’s choice to star in controversial Woody Allen’s film A Rainy Day in New York.
One social media user asked the mother to ‘make Selena write an apology about the Woody Allen film,’ and Mandy actually replied!
‘Sorry, but no one can make Selena do anything she does not want to do. I had a long talk with her about not working with him, and it did not click. Her team’s amazing people. There’s no fall person here. No one controls her. She makes her own decisions. No matter how hard you try to advise. It always falls on deaf ears.’
As you may be aware, Woody Allen’s daughter Dylan Farrow accused the man of molesting her back in 1992 when she was no older than 7.
Despite the fact that he has always denied the accusations, ever since then, it has been a very controversial decision for actors to work with Allen.
Yesterday, Timothee Chalamet, one of Selena’s co-stars in the Woody Allen movie shared that he is going to donate the money he’ll make off it to three charities – RAINN, the LGBT Center in New York and of course, Time’s Up.
‘This year’s changed the way I see and feel about so many things. It’s been a thrilling and, at times, enlightening education. I’ve, to this point, chosen projects from the perspective of a young actor trying to walk in the footsteps of some more seasoned actors that I admire. But I’m learning that a good role is not the only criteria for accepting a job – that’s become much clearer to me in the past few months, having witnessed the birth of this powerful movement intent on ending injustice, inequality and above all, silence. … I do not want to profit from my work on the film,’ the actor stated.
What do you think about Selena’s decision to work with Woody Allen despite his huge scandal?
