The singer’s fake tan on the Met Gala red carpet got her into a lot of trouble, and it seems like she is not yet over the controversy and the jokes at her expense. Selena Gomez referenced the fail at yet another event today.
It all started when a fan told her she looked absolutely beautiful while in attendance at PUMA’s Defy City event in L.A.
Referring to her previous event and the failed fake tan, she said: ‘fixed it from Met Gala.’
To make her feelings about the whole thing even more clear, she grimaced.
As you may remember, a couple of weeks ago, Gomez created a lot of confusion when she hit the red carpet looking much tanner than we knew her.
Social media was soon flooded with negative comments, some even accusing her of doing blackface.
‘Terrible spray tan,’ one tweet read while another user wrote: ‘whoever did Selena Gomez’s tan needs to be fired immediately. Wwwwooooooww.’
Makeup artist Hung Vanngo released a statement to E! News about the look saying: ‘After seeing Selena’s gown for the Met Gala, we decided to go for a glowy, warm makeup look with dramatic, golden eyes and a nude lip.’
But somehow, it all got overshadowed by the incredibly unnatural tan, and Selena seemed to regret the look herself.
A couple of days after the Met Gala, she shared a vid that showed her running away in the gown she sported at the event, captioning it: ‘Me when I saw my pictures from the MET.’
In addition to her confession about the controversial fake tan at the Puma event, Selena also had another pretty candid moment when she asked to hold a toddler.
However, the child was not too keen about that, so they held onto the parent.
‘I don’t know what to do!’ Selena said, panicked.
