Just a few weeks before her mental breakdown and hospitalization, Selena Gomez confessed the fact that she’d had some ‘weird couple of months.’ What happened exactly? Did it have something to do with her ex, Justin Bieber?
On September 23, Selena hinted that she was having a hard time, reason for which she also announced that she had decided to take a break from social media and focus on herself.
Despite that, just one day after, she went on Instagram Live and interacted with her fans like never before, responding to their questions and updating them on her life.
‘Everything is good. I had a weird couple months, but it is fine. I feel good. I had to make conscious decisions every day in order to get here, but it is fine,’ she claimed.
Even though the pop star never mentioned the reason why the previous months were ‘weird’ for her, it just so happened to be at the same time her former boyfriend Justin Bieber was getting back together with his ex, Hailey Baldwin.
Furthermore, just weeks after, they were engaged which must have affected Selena even more.
Finally, on October 10, TMZ reported that Selena had been hospitalized at the end of last month for having a really dangerous low white blood cell count because of her kidney transplant last year.
Although she was released, not too long after, she was readmitted because her health did not improve much.
Reportedly, Selena refused to stay in the hospital and alleged fought to get away from the hospital personnel, going as far as ripping her IVs out herself.
TMZ also described her reaction as an ‘emotional breakdown,’ after which the singer flew to the east coast in a private jet for treatment at a psychiatric facility.
One insider told the outlet that ‘Having Justin’s relationship everywhere is not easy. But she is also dealing with other stressful situations and being back in the hospital is difficult and brought back some tough memories. It is not fair to say that this caused it or that caused it, because depression and anxiety are so layered.’
Hopefully, the star will get better soon.
