Over the weekend, Charles in Charge and Baywatch actress Nicole Eggert made some comments about actor and President Trump supporter Scott Baio that ignited a firestorm of controversy. Nicole Eggert responded to a politically themed comment regarding Scott Baio by suggesting that he had acted inappropriately with her while she was a teen actress.
Eggert and Baio appeared on Charles in Charge together. Charles in Charge ran from 1984-1990 while the main cast of characters changed after the first season. Scott Baio worked on the show throughout its entirety, while Nicole Eggert joined the cast in 1987 and appeared on the series until 1990.
During Nicole Eggert’s tweets and replies, she began to allege that Scott Baio had engaged in sexual misconduct with her while she was underage.
Scott Baio responded by immediately addressing the allegations. He denied any impropriety and said he was confused as to why Nicole would make such allegations. He even said they were friends and she had been friends with his wife.
He hosted a Facebook Live video that has been uploaded to YouTube. You may watch Scott Baio’s defense in the video player below. Again, Scott Baio has not been charged with any crime, declares his innocence, and has presented legal documentation requesting those who have spoken out on social media remain silent or contact authorities.

In Scott Baio’s defense video, he stated that he wanted to do a live video stream so that his words alone would be heard and not misconstrued or subject to editing.
Many people on social media responded to the video with mixed reactions as some found his wife’s, Renee Baio’s, constant and continual interjections distracting while others felt that it was helpful.
Scott Baio did confirm that he had sexual relations with Nicole Eggert but stated that she was 18, seduced him, and shared audio from an interview she did where she spoke about approaching the actor in order to lose her virginity.
It is this audio that has caused great discussion and debate on the Internet. Many have accused Nicole Eggert of lying and look to her interview with Nik Richie Radio for “The Dirty” as proof that she has ulterior motives for making the allegations.
Others believe the radio interview backs up her claims by showing she had an established, sexual relationship with Baio that made her feel comfortable enough to approach him.
Scott Baio played a clip from Nicole Eggert’s interview. You may hear this by fast forwarding to the 9:47 mark in the video above.
It is Nicole Eggert’s words that have caused some to disbelieve her account and throw their support behind Scott Baio. There are; however, others who have more questions than simple answers after listening to Nicole’s recording.
According to the interview, Nicole was describing losing her virginity and how she didn’t want to lose her virginity to her then boyfriend.
Scott Baio used the clip to show that he had consensual sexual relations with Nicole Eggert and provided a timeline to demonstrate that she was 18. But others are asking why would Nicole Eggert feel comfortable approaching Scott Baio for the sole purpose of losing her virginity in the first place?
Some find the interview especially odd since she had a boyfriend, but chose to have sex with Scott Baio instead.
Is it common behavior to work with an actor and become so close that you would rather lose your virginity to him than your boyfriend?
For many, the interview is not only troubling but raises more questions than answers. Some have even stated that they believe there was prior sexual contact between the two, and that is why she felt comfortable approaching him to “pop her cherry.”
Nicole Eggert alleges that sexual conduct began between the two when she was 14.
Baio described Nicole as being his best friend in the world and now suddenly he is the “boogeyman.”
She had sexual relations with him as an adult. But she is pointing out it started when she was 14

Lisa Bloom represents Nicole Eggert and shared a message via Twitter stating she was proud to stand with her. Scott Baio argues that Nicole is “shopping her story” around, but doesn’t know why.
Proud to represent Nicole Eggert as she fends off lawyer threats and finds the courage to tell her story of sexual abuse.
By the way: lawyers' letters are not evidence. But a woman's testimony is. https://t.co/69OIHmFaNM

As the war between Nicole Eggert and Scott Baio continues to unfold, Scott’s wife Renee isn’t holding back. She has retweeted and shared several messages in support of her husband and posted a photo slamming Nicole Eggert using her own words against her. The insinuation is that Nicole is making false allegations against Scott Baio. But not everyone agrees.

What are your thoughts on this case? Do you think it is odd for someone with a boyfriend to approach an older, ex-cast member for sex in order to lose their virginity?
Do you agree with those who believe that Nicole Eggert is lying for nefarious reasons or to shop a story around?
Or do you think the admittance of Nicole Eggert losing her virginity to Scott Baio in the manner depicted suggests something in their relationship was not normal?
