Scott Baio released an official statement through his attorneys as he failed to appear for his live press conference. The impromptu media event was held in response to the conference Lisa Bloom held for her clients Alexander Polinsky and Nicole Eggert.
Both have alleged Scott Baio abused them when he served as Charles in Charge director and lead star. Baio has denied the abuse allegations and held the press conference to address what was described as Nicole Eggert’s and Alexander Polisky’s changing stories.
According to a statement on Scott Baio’s Facebook account, his daughter had previously been ill and was finally well enough to attend a Valentine’s Day party at school. Scott spent the time with his daughter in school and his attorneys spoke in his place during the press conference.
It was also announced that since Nicole Eggert and Alexander Polinsky filed police reports against him, Baio hired criminal defense attorney Leonard Levine to represent him. Levine did not attend the press conference, but Baio’s civil attorney Jennifer McGrath did appear and speak. Baio’s spokesperson Brian Glichlich read Scott Baio’s statement.
Here is Scott Baio’s official statement.
“For reasons, I don’t understand I am the target of false claims that threaten everything that’s important in my life. I’m hurt, and I’m angry, but mostly I am stunned that anyone could be so cruel as to attack not just me but my entire family with lies. I will not let this continue unchallenged and will use every ounce of strength and faith in God that I have to defeat the people behind this. This story is just beginning to be told.”

Scott Baio’s attorney and his representative spoke a great deal about inconsistencies with Alexander Polinsky’s and Nicole Eggert’s statements. While Baio’s team pointed to changing stories and various interviews as evidence the two were teaming up against their client, Eggert and Polinsky say there are many witnesses who can back up their stories.
At this point, it’s unclear if the LAPD has interviewed any of the witnesses and if there are statements that back up Nicole Eggert’s and Alexander Polinsky’s claims.
What do you think of Scott Baio’s press conference? Were you surprised that he wasn’t there?
(Charisse Van Horn and Alexander Polinsky personally follow each other on Twitter and have spoken to each other in the past, but not about the Scott Baio case. She has also tweeted in the past messages of support for Nicole Eggert to come forward and tell her story. She does her best to be fair and balanced and present all sides of the case. Scott Baio denies all allegations of child abuse against him.)
