Scarlett Johansson and Romain Dauriac, her husband of two years, have secretly split in recent months. The breakup happened over the summer, but the parents of two-year-old Rose Dorothy decided to keep things quiet. Dauriac, a French journalist and art consultant, was last seen publicly with Johansson in October. This will be the second divorce for the 32-year-old actress. She was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds for three years from 2008 to 2011. The Canadian movie star wed Gossip Girl actress Blake Lively in 2012.
The news broke after Johansson was seen in New York City Wednesday morning without her wedding ring. Johansson, who took part in the Anti-Trump Women’s On Washington march Saturday, started dating Dauriac in 2012 and the pair got engaged in 2013. The wedding ceremony took place in Philipsburg, Montana. This was after the birth of their daughter in October 2014.
The Planned Parenthood supporter said in 2015 that it was refreshing to be with someone who was not part of the movie industry. The former child start stated: “It is [easier to be with someone who isn’t famous], but it’s more than that. We do different things. He’s [Romain] in the whole art-scene world.”
The estranged couple tried to merge their two worlds by starting Yummy Pop, a fancy popcorn store in Paris. Their last appearance together was at the grand opening of the gourmet shop.
Some people are surprised by the split, others say they saw it coming because the people came from different worlds. Either way, it seems that Johansson is preparing herself to do all that she can to protect her fortune. The Hollywood sensation, who is worth at least $80 million, has hired tough divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who worked for her ex-husband when they got divorced.
