Fans of the Freeform supernatural series Shadowhunters are on a unified quest to save their beloved television series. Freeform announced they will end the program after three seasons and will wrap it up with a two-hour finale that will air in 2019. As the first part of the third season currently ended, Shadowhunters will conclude with an upcoming finale that will consist of an additional 2 episodes to the original ten ordered. Shadowhunters were disappointed to learn that instead of upcoming seasons, they only have ten episodes plus the two additional episodes to look forward to. Within minutes after Freeform announced their plans not to go forward with the fourth season, the hashtag #SaveShadowhunters began trending. Season 3 of Shadowhunters consists of a part a and part b.
Though FreeForm and cast members such as Kat McNamara and Harry Shum Jr. promised they’d deliver a solid finale, that wasn’t good enough for fans. Those who love the series that is based on the best-selling books by Cassandra Clare demanded fans rally together and save it from its demise.
The series’ finale is expected to air sometime in spring 2019. The season 3 finale aired on May 15, 2018.

Freeform released a statement announcing the end of Shadowhunters.
“We are very proud of Shadowhunters, a series that broke new ground in the genre world and became a fan favorite. However, along with our partners at Constantin, we reached the very difficult decision not to renew the show for a fourth season. But as big supporters and fans ourselves, Freeform insisted on and championed the filming of a special two-part finale that would give devoted fans a proper ending.
The twelve episodes will air in spring of 2019. We want to thank our talented creators, producers, cast and crew along with our colleagues at Constantin for their hard work and dedication and to Cassie Clare for her incredible book series. We look forward to the final chapter of this breakthrough drama.”
Shadowhunters has a very strong fan base and they watch the show faithfully, but the series hasn’t drawn the same numbers when it comes to live viewership as it did during its 2016 premiere.
What do you think? Do you believe that Shadowhunters should be saved?
