Mariah Carey is getting her second chance at this year’s New Years Rockin’ Eve party. As you may know, Carey’s performance last year was fraught with difficulties which left the mega-pop-star feeling like the producers and managers intentionally tried to humiliate her.
Reporters from E! News spoke with the hosts, Ryan Seacrest and Jenny McCarthy, in NYC to talk about what this year has in store. It’s a bit different from what they’re used to, considering, typically, they are in a studio which is a more “managed” setting.
Seacrest conceded that they’re “not really in control” because it is outside of what they’re used to. The host explained the situation is much different because they’re in Times Square and it’s cold.
Seacrest admitted they didn’t expect to see Carey there again, but lo-and-behold, she decided to retake the stage, and Seacrest and Jenny are “anxious to see Mariah come back.”
Furthermore, the host claimed Mariah had rehearsed a lot more this year with her team so it will undoubtedly be a fantastic performance.
As for McCarthy – the ex-wife of Jim Carrey – she said it’s great to see Mariah getting a second chance at the gig. She said, “it’s a wonderful thing” because how often do people seriously get another chance at something?
As you may know, back on the 22nd of December, just seven days ago, Dick Clark Productions and ABC announced Mariah would host the Times Square event yet again. The audience will consist of over one million people.
Back in 2005, Mariah performed at the New Years Rockin’ Eve and did quite well. However, last year, she made headlines when her concert was filled with difficulties which left Carey feeling like the producers were malicious. Thankfully, Dick Clark and Mariah have since made up and are excited to make the New Years Eve performance a good one.
