There’s nothing like seeing two Hollywood hunks enjoying a little bromance time. While romantic relationships are all the rage in our popular culture, friendships (typically male friendships) don’t get that much shine and they should!
Actors Ryan Reynolds and Jake Gyllenhaal were spotted roaming the streets of Tribeca in New York City on October 20, after they grabbed a cup of coffee at a nearby coffee shop. Reynolds was in the city all week with his wife, Blake Lively, who was promoting her new film All I See Is You. Gyllenhaal currently resides in New York, so it was a perfect opportunity for the men to catch up.
They were dressed casually and both donned sunglasses with coffee cups in hand.
The two met and became fast friends while they were filming the sci-fi thriller Life. Earlier this year, while they were doing press for the movie, their friendship and sense of camaraderie seemed clear. While Gyllenhaal was on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the host asked about their friendship and seemed a little doubtful that the two were actually friends.
Meyers pressured Gyllenhaal to FaceTime Reynolds, which he did, but Reynolds didn’t answer. However, he did call him back during a break.
Reynolds and Gyllenhaal joke on the call as Reynolds told him he was out pushing baby strollers as he was taking a walk with him and Lively’s daughter, Ines. Gyllenhaal goes on say that Reynolds is just a really great guy and that they get along so well.
It’s nice to see these prolific and highly regarded actors not letting things like ego, fame or competitive edges get in the way of human connections and real friendships. It’s also good to see that differences in life don’t prevent that.
Reynolds is married with young children while Gyllenhaal is unmarried without kids. Yet their foundation of friendship is likely their personalities, senses of humor, role choices and so on.
It will be interesting to see how this friendship blossoms and if the two work together on any more projects in the upcoming years.
