Just a few days after reports resurfaced that Russell Simmons and Brett Ratner assaulted Keri Claussen Khalighi, the former model opened up to Megyn Kelly to share additional parts of the story. In a report published on the 19th of November, Keri claims that Simmons and Ratner forced her into a sexual interaction when she was 17-years-old.
In response, Simmons’ stated that he “unequivocally denies” all of the allegations levied by Keri. Additionally, Ratner addressed the allegations by stating he had “no recollection” of Khalighi asking him for help.
When speaking with the host, Megyn Kelly, Keri said she doesn’t know how to respond to Russell’s defense because it’s “ludicrous.” Khalighi claimed she and Russell had a face-to-face confrontation about the conversation and had several discussions on the phone regarding what had happened that night.
She stated, “what’s so confusing (and) traumatizing is what he’s speaking about privately with me is completely different than what’s come out publicly, and that’s the piece that’s been upsetting.”
Khalighi said she saw Simmons at Soho House in West Hollywood a year ago and he “poured his heart out” with an apology. Simmons and his lawyer, Brad D. Rose, said that the apology was regarding her “infidelity” to her boyfriend at the time, rather than sexual assault or rape.

In an essay to The Hollywood Reporter, Simmons states he has proof and three witnesses who can corroborate his story. Furthermore, Russell said his “longtime loathing” of violence and abuse had been woven into all of his interactions, as everyone who knows him will claim.
He added, during their conversations years later, “Keri never accused me of what she has said publicly. She insisted I was not violent.” But what she did say, was that her boyfriend found out about their weekend together and she was “ashamed of that discovery.”
