Rush Limbaugh took one last shot at President Barack Obama as he gets ready to leave the White House. On Monday, many pictures surfaced online showing that some of the Obamas’ belongings were being transported from the Oval Office to their new Washington mansion. Around that same time, the 66-year-old entertainer could not resist taking a final swipe at the 44th president. On his daily radio program, the mogul decided to answer a comment made by Obama last week.
In an interview with NBC “Dateline Special,” Obama repeated the statement that he has been making for the past eight years. The current POTUS said he believes conservatives on FOX News Channel and talk radio personalities like Limbaugh made it impossible for him to have any working relationship with Republicans.
As stated above, during his presidency, Obama has called out some of the smears and fake news being pushed by some people on the right. The president has often lamented on being unfairly treated by commentators on FOX – which is one of the reasons why Obama rarely gave interviews to the conservative-leaning network.
Obama told Lester Holt: “The ability of Republican leaders to rile up their base, helped along by folks like Rush Limbaugh and some commentators on Fox News, I think created an environment in which Republican voters would punish Republicans for cooperating with me.”
The popular radio talk show host made sure he called the president by his full name – Barack Hussein Obama – and went on to share a few choice words.
The writer said that while he is an influential media personality, he is not a politician, and has never been in Congress. Limbaugh stated that Obama had both chambers for two years and accomplished little other than the Affordable Care Act.
The conservative political commentator said that Obama should stop complaining and take responsibility for his lack of efforts to reach out to Mitch McConnell and John A. Boehner.
Limbaugh explained: “So he was trying to eliminate any opposition. It’s kind of a crock here for the guy (chuckles) to blame me for partisanship in Washington. (chuckles) I’m never there. I’m a guy on the radio. Admittedly, a powerful, influential member of the media guy on the radio. But nevertheless I’m not there. But the noteworthy thing here is how he exempts himself from any of the reasons for partisanship: “That hothouse of back-and-forth argument and — and really sharp partisanship I think has been harmful to the country.” See, none of what he did is partisan.”
In the same segment, Limbaugh blasted Michelle Obama for only focusing on fashion while her husband was in office. He also bashed the liberals, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
