Following Taylor Swift’s performance at BBC Music’s the Biggest Weekend festival in Swansea, Wales, on the 27th of May, Taylor spoke with a reporter who made a comment that not a lot of people found very flattering. Reportedly, the journalist said to her, “it’s nice to see you. I think you need to have a shower now!” – clearly referring to the fact that she must’ve been sweating from performing under the lights.
Greg James, the reporter working for the BBC was the subject of fiery criticism on social media afterward, and the comments weren’t nice. One person wrote, “how dare he talk to Taylor like that? Doesn’t he realize that he’s contributing to a toxic body shaming culture?”
Swift said to him in response, “I agree! And I’m not offended that you said that!” Taylor commented on the weather as it was 71 degrees on Sunday. However, the humidity was approximately 80%, making it one fiercely hot day.
Even though Taylor responded with grace to the journalist’s comment, some people on social media weren’t impressed at all. One person wrote, “after years of not doing interviews, the very first thing she hears is a comment on her body and perspiration. It’s not very nice.”
Another person wrote, “who the f*ck was that zombie who spoke with Taylor during the BBC 1 Radio Show? Man, that person should be fired.”
Despite the ire of some of Taylor’s most dedicated fans, others had a more measured reaction to it. One person stated, “I bet Taylor is already getting back at him in some way.”
Another social media commenter added, “James telling her that she needs to have a shower was the moment of the year lol.” Admittedly, the comment could’ve been misinterpreted, but Taylor is still undoubtedly looking forward to her return to the United Kingdom.
On Instagram, Taylor wrote, “I missed you UK!” She’s certainly had a momentous career in the last year. Following her battle with DJ David Mueller, Taylor was featured on Time Magazine for Persons of the Year.
