It looks like Ronda Rousey is planning a comeback. The former women’s bantamweight champion, who went into hiding after her devastating loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, posted a quote on social media about rebuilding after hitting “rock bottom”. Could we be in for a Ronda comeback?
The UFC legend posted a quote from J.K. Rowling on her Instagram account. It read “And so rock bottom became the solid foundation on which I rebuilt my life.” Best-selling author, Rowling delivered the famous quote during a speech she gave at Harvard while talking about how she wrote the ‘Harry Potter’ books while she was broke, unemployed and just divorced.
Rousey admitted that she was a broken woman after losing to Holly Holms in their fight at UFC 193. She has equally taken the Amanda Nunes loss hard , basically going into hiding after UFC 207 to recuperate and deliberate about her future.
It’s not difficult to see why Rousey would relate to J.K Rowling’s quote. If you’ve ever been poor, jobless or suffered heartbreak, you would have felt what she must be feeling. You feel like you don’t want to exist, and might even feel like you aren’t good enough. However, if you’ve ever been in these situations, you also know you have nothing else to loose. You just have to pick yourself up, and it seems like that’s what Ronda is going to do.
We’ve heard reports that she’s going to retire, become a full-time actress or move to the WWE. But could we see Ronda returning to the Octagon in the near future? Most of the greats have suffered losses, but what people remember is how they bounced back and became champions again.
We believe Rousey can follow the footsteps of the greats. What do you think?
