Roseanne Barr’s fans are reacting to news that ABC has decided to reboot their highly rated, now canceled show after a series of tweets Roseanne made that were deemed racist. ABC announced that they have not only fired Roseanne from her show but will reboot it in a way that she will have no control of. Roseanne will not be a creative force on the team, nor will she derive financial benefit from the spin-off. The reboot’s working title is The Conners and the show is ordered as straight to series.
Fans of Roseanne Barr’s decried ABC’s decision to cancel the program over the tweet as they felt that Roseanne hadn’t said anything more offensive than what other comedians say. Instead, many of Barr’s fans have voiced opinions on social media that the decision to cancel Roseanne was a politically motivated one as Roseanne is an outspoken supporter or President Donald Trump.
Ironically, the revived series Roseanne was based in politics and the difference in opinions between the right-conservative and left-liberal or democratic and republican views. The series, though it aimed to show a family of different political opinions and beliefs working together, couldn’t uphold those same controversies when they crossed over to real life.
Prediction: No one will watch and it will get cancelled after one season.

ABC released a statement saying the show was greenlit for 10 episodes and will debut on the fall 2018 lineup on Tuesday nights from 8 pm-8:30 p.m. An exact premiere date has yet to be announced.
Ironically, ABC described the show as one where the family works together and finds common ground regarding their differences. The irony of the statement, combined with Roseanne’s firing due to her difference of opinions and deemed racist tweet, has not gone without notice from her fans.
“The Conners’ stories demonstrate that families can always find common ground through conversation, laughter, and love. The spinoff will continue to portray contemporary issues that are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago.”
Currently, the known returning cast is as follows: Sara Gilbert (Darlene), John Goodman (Dan), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Lecy Goranson (Becky) and Michael Fishman (D.J.)
Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, Lecy Goranson, Laurie Metcalf, and John Goodman released a joint statement regarding Roseanne’s reboot The Conners.
“We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience. We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”Advertisement
