Even though Rihanna is a multi-platinum musical icon, a fashion maven, and a highly successful businesswoman, she’s still a human being. Unlike so many celebrities who maintain this “perfect” weight, she knows as a woman, her weight will change from time to time.
Rihanna dealt with rumors and naysayers years ago when she was photographed looking a little thicker in the waistline, she slimmed down soon after, but recently, when the same thing happened, many started to speculate on whether or not she was actually pregnant.
No baby on board here. Her weight just fluctuates, like many women’s weight often does.
During the release of her 2018 Puma x Fenty collection, she spoke about a myriad of different looks that the beauty attributes to how she tends to dress her body depending on how it changes.
“I actually have had the pleasure of a fluctuating body type, where one day I can literally fit into something that is bodycon, and then the next day — the next week — I need something oversized. I need a little crop here and a high-waist there to hide that part, you know?”
Rihanna having such a positive and intuitive outlook on her body can’t be easy. Not just because there’s so much pressure on her as a beautiful superstar, but because people can be so vicious on social media in our new age of constant access to celebrities.
She’s even had to shut down body shamers in the past for telling her to lose weight or for calling her fat.
Just because so many of the gorgeous stars we see parading around Hollywood are small and generally stay small, or because we glorify the “snapback” culture when one of them does have a baby and gains some weight, doesn’t mean that everyone should or will subscribe to this notion.
Rihanna is upfront, honest and real about how dressing for your body can sometimes change. She admits that she really pays attention to what will look good on her body when she goes into her closet to decide on an outfit for the day.
She says that fashion is such a specific and individual thing and everyone should approach it as such.
