Ridley Scott doesn’t know what Kevin Spacey is doing right now. The director revealed in an interview recently that he hasn’t spoken to Kevin since the claims first came out. When speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Ridley said Spacey had “gone down underground,” and it would’ve been nice to receive a call from the Academy Award winner.
As you may know, Spacey’s career went off the rails after Anthony Rapp accused him of molestation regarding an incident which occurred over 20 years ago.
Spacey’s scandal was just one of many to come to fruition in the past few months. Ridley said, now, “it’s just too late” to hear from him.
Netflix terminated their contract with Spacey, and he was permanently removed from House of Cards. According to reports, the actor is currently seeking treatment in a rehabilitation facility for “sex-addicts.”
Either way, Scott is happy with the new movie. Scott faced a tough decision when the allegations hit the news because he had just completed a film with Kevin as the lead.
However, he took to casting Christopher Plummer, and they edited out every single scene featuring Spacey. David Scarpa, who wrote for the movie, said they were willing to go in there and customize the script to make it work for the new actor.
However, in the end, it wasn’t necessary to do so, and they merely replaced Kevin with Christopher in every scene.
At first, it didn’t appear to be so easy. When the allegations first came out, they thought they would have to scrap the film entirely. Scarpa said it would’ve been difficult to get people to look at the movie as they intended.
