Countess Luann de Lesseps has made some wild claims in the past, but in a newly released interview, shortly before she tried her hand at rehab for the second time, the Real Housewives of New York star claimed she was sober, simply because she was much too busy to be an alcoholic.
In the rambling interview with Recovery Today Magazine, she in one turn claims she wasn’t drinking when she had a traumatic car accident with her children in the Swiss Alps, then backtracks and says, she was drinking red wine, but that is European and emphatically denied that she has ever had a problem with alcohol…. that is until last winter.
“But I did have a problem as of recent because I was self-medicating,” she said. “Listen, I am too busy to be an alcoholic. I am not an alcoholic because alcohol doesn’t work for me.”

RHONY fans can only assume that the “recent” she is referring too is her mistake of a marriage to Tom D’Agostino, her Christmas Eve arrest for drunk and disorderly conduct, or the lawsuit that the Count and her two children filed against her earlier this fall.
The reality star has spoken about spending time with her kiddos on social media, though inside sources claim that her children — Victoria and Noel — want nothing to do with her in the wake of the new lawsuit. De Lesseps’ ex-husband, Count Alexandre, is suing her for violating divorce stipulations they agreed to back in 2009.
De Lesseps was supposed to use funds from the sale of her mansion in Bridgehampton to set up a trust fund for the children. Alexandre, along with the couple’s kids, say that de Lesseps failed to create the trust and used the money to purchase a new house. The RHONY star is now selling that home as well, and her family wants to make sure some of that money goes to their pockets.

De Lesseps’ problems don’t end with her family. An inside source told Radar Online that she has been cutting ties with her friends on the show and is looking to grow her career as a cabaret singer. To that end, the RHONY star has made friends with people in the theater and does not want to hang out with anyone associated with the show.
“She has cut ties with the Housewives, and now only wants to hang out with Broadway types,” the insider dished, adding that many of her co-stars “don’t even recognize her anymore.”
LuAnn de Lesseps has not commented on the newly surfaced interview, and despite cutting ties with castmates she is reportedly filming for the new season of RHONY, which is set to premiere in the spring of 2019.
