There may have been more to LuAnn de Lesseps’ latest relapse than previously thought. Shortly before falling off the wagon, the Real Housewives of New York star experienced heartbreak at the hands of her boyfriend, Rich Super, which may have contributed to her relapse.
De Lesseps and Super started dating after working together on the reality star’s cabaret show. Super, who works as de Lesseps agent, stuck with her until she started having problems with alcohol. Once the drinking issues became too much to handle, Super ended the romance. The relationship was de Lesseps’ first serious one since parting ways with Tom D’Agostino Jr. in 2017.

An inside source told Page Six that de Lesseps and Super handled the split fairly well and are still good friends. Although their relationship did not work out, Super is still the RHONY star’s agent and no plans of changing that.
The two have not discussed their short romance, though de Lesseps did open up about her sobriety in a recent interview on Megyn Kelly Today.
De Lesseps told Kelly that she is the type of person who cannot have a glass of wine and be fine. Instead, something inside of her wants to drink the whole bottle and then look for some more. “I feel like I’m almost allergic to alcohol, because I can’t be like most normal people and have a glass or two of wine,” de Lesseps shared.
While de Lesseps’ breakup with Super may have contributed to her relapse, she blames it on her ex-husband, Alexandre de Lesseps. The RHONY star says that she started drinking again after she found out that Alexandre filed a lawsuit against her for allegedly stealing money from their kids. Not only did she lose a house because of the lawsuit, but she felt like her former husband betrayed her.

Once the news hit home, de Lesseps coped by drinking a slew of watermelon martinis with a girl pal. She then downed a couple bottles of wine and a six pack of beer – all in one night.
De Lesseps fortunately sought help after her relapse and enrolled in rehab last month. The stint in rehab was de Lesseps’ second in less than a year. The reality star entered a program earlier this year after being arrested in Florida for drunk and disorderly conduct.
Because of her sobriety issues, de Lesseps did not take part in filming the Season 10 reunion of RHONY.
