Joe Giudice, the husband of Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice, has a deportation hearing later this month, but his wife won’t be there. Insiders say that even though family members can attend the hearings, Teresa is not planning to go.
“Teresa is saying that she isn’t going to court for the hearing,” says an insider. “She just can’t take the stress, and she believes nothing will happen anyway, so she doesn’t need to be there.”
According to Radar Online, Joe — who is a native of Italy — is in the middle of “removal proceedings” while serving a three-year federal prison sentence for fraud charges. An ICE spokesperson says that they have lodged a detainer, and Joe is facing deportation while he is in custody.
In March, an immigration judge ordered Joe’s removal from the United States, but he isn’t going quietly. Joe wants to stay in the United States with his wife and four kids, so in May he applied for a cancellation of removal and filed a motion to terminate. A DOJ official says that both of his requests are still pending.
Joe’s prison sentence ends in March of next year, but the ICE spokesperson says that there is a possibility of deportation before then. However, if he does complete his sentence before the deportation case is settled, federal prison officials will turn Joe over to ICE when they release him from custody.
Sources say that Teresa is living “in a fantasy world,” and refuses to admit that Joe could get deported. Instead, she believes that everything will turn out okay, so she is spending her time at the shore instead of with her husband.
She is, however, cashing in on the whole situation. Teresa has signed a deal with Bravo to film the deportation drama, and they are paying her $500,000 for exclusive access. Insiders say that the special will be similar to the specials that aired while she was in prison. Only this time, it will focus on how Teresa and her daughters are handling the possibility of Juicy Joe’s deportation.
Teresa agreed to film the special because she needs the money to provide for her children. She also wanted to make sure that she had money for them to go to college.
Real Housewives of New Jersey will return to Bravo for season nine later this year. The network has not yet announced when Teresa Giudice and Juicy Joe’s special will air.
