Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice’s husband Joe Giudice is currently serving his 41-month sentence for fraud in federal prison, and now it looks like he is in the middle of the deportation process. Radar Online is reporting that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) “has lodged a detainer, and he is in removal proceedings.”
Giuseppe “Joe” Giudice is a native of Italy, and he is a little over two years into his three-and-a-half year prison sentence. But an ICE spokesperson says that if he is “ordered deported while in custody,” they will remove him from the U.S. before his scheduled release in March 2019.

However, if he is able to finish his sentence, the prison will transfer him to ICE instead of letting him go home to Teresa and their four daughters.
This past week, Joe attended a deportation hearing via virtual teleconference at Allenwood Prison in Pennsylvania, where they handle immigration issues. Last September Joe admitted that he was under an ICE detainer, but not under removal proceedings.
If deportation does happen, Teresa said on last season’s RHONJ reunion that she is not against moving to Italy.
“I mean, Italy’s a beautiful place to live,” Teresa said. “I wouldn’t mind, you know, I’m just saying. Listen, whatever God has planned for me, that’s what’s going to happen. I will embrace it the best I can.”
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean she wants to leave New Jersey, and the possibility of Joe’s deportation does scare her. Joe’s lawyer, James J. Leonard Jr., says there has not been a decision yet on his client’s immigration status but added the 46-year-old does have a legal team working hard on his behalf so he can return home to New Jersey with his wife and kids. And, they remain optimistic that it will end that way.
In the meantime, Teresa is making appearances at local bars – which is most likely her way of making some money, since she claims her family is broke. Last week she showed up at D’Jais, which is a hotspot in Belmar, New Jersey. Other reality stars – like Vanderpump Rules star James Kennedy and Corrinne Olympios from The Bachelorette – have appeared at that bar. The expectation is for them to party with the guests and judge dance contests.
Last year, Teresa Giudice talked about the crazy twists and turns in her life. She said that she never thought in a million years she would go to jail. Then, she mentioned her marriage to Joe Giudice and said, “Will I still be married to Joe in 40 years? I have no idea. You don’t know what life will bring.”
Season nine of the Real Housewives of New Jersey will premiere on Bravo later this year.
