Emily Simpson, the newest star of the Real Housewives of Orange County, has found herself to be the target of some body-shaming internet trolls who judge her based on her size. But, instead of ignoring the messages, Simpson is clapping back.
“It’s never ok to call a woman fat, fatass, plus-size, etc,” she tweeted this past weekend. “I will take the criticism and be the voice for all the women out there that feel inadequate because they don’t fit someone’s ridiculous standard of beauty. Be strong. Be proud. Be confident. I got you.”
According to E! News, Simpson usually ignores the things people say on Twitter. But, after receiving direct messages on her Instagram account that felt like a “personal attack” and were “completely inappropriate,” the reality star decided she needed to respond.
Simpson also revealed that she has received hurtful judgments before. She says people have called her “every fat name you can think of,” and women have called her “fat and fat**s” in “awful” messages. “It’s horrible,” Simpson tweeted.
But, many of Simpson’s fans did come to her defense, and she made it clear that she is proud of how she looks. She also thanked her followers for their support and encouragement and told them to build each other up instead of tearing each other down.
When it comes to having fun, the RHOC ladies do love their adult beverages, but Simpson says that you will never catch her drinking wine. She recently explained her drink of choice is champagne or something she considers to be safe.
Simpson says that she drinks water and the occasional Diet Coke. But, if she is going out to dinner or to a party, she just wants a glass of champagne. She says she doesn’t like wine — even though she wishes she did — and it’s all because of a wine-tasting party she went to in 2015.
She says that things went bad very quickly, and she ended up laying on a sidewalk waiting for an Uber to pick her up. Then, the Uber driver had to pull over so she could throw up on the side of the road. Since then, Simpson says she can’t do wine because of the awful experience.
Can we just give a #shoutout to my sisters abs?! She also revealed that filming RHOC has affected her diet, and that surprised her. Simpson explained that the other wives don’t really eat on camera. She recalled a time when she was at Shannon Beador’s house, and everybody put a tiny amount of food on their plates, but she filled her plate up while wondering if she missed the memo on not eating on camera.
Emily Simpson says she lost weight when the season started because they would have dinners and no one would eat. So, instead, she “just starved.”
New episodes of the Real Housewives of Orange County air Monday nights on Bravo.
