Eileen Davidson will no longer be playing the role of Ashley Abbott on daytime soap opera “The Young and the Restless.” The “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star just confirmed her departure on social media. Fans of the show are highly upset considering this means that they won’t see their favorite actress on Bravo or CBS.
After Daytime Confidential reported that Davidson quit the show to spend more time with her family, the actress tweeted hours later: “Yes I am leaving my second home
@YandR_CBS in September. I’ve been so blessed to be able to play Ashley Abbott and work with the amazing people on the show and have nothing but gratitude and love for all!!! Time for a little more control over my day to day!”
Eileen first took on the role in 1982 and since has had various stints, both long and short, on the award-winning program. She most recently took home a Daytime Emmy for best actress just this April.

If you’re not keen on soap operas, you may know her from Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” from 2014 to 2017. She gifted her Housewives co-star, Erika Jayne, with a small part on the CBS show that Erika recently played again.
There is talk that Eileen’s decision to leave was also motivated by the fact that the actresses on the show have not gotten a pay raise in over five years — despite the fact that they’ve had increasingly high viewership (up until December of last year) and multiple award nominations.
Another “Y&R” veteran, Mishael Morgan announced that she would be stepping out of her role as Hilary Curtis just weeks before Davidson’s decision. It is rumored that the no-raise rule also influenced her decision.
Viewers rallied for Mishael Morgan to stay on the show by renting out a plane attached to a flag that read: “SONY, PLEASE KEEP MISHAEL MORGAN ON Y&R.”
There is even a petition with thousands of signatures in an attempt to urge the company to get Mishael back. It would not come as a surprise if the same thing is done for Eileen Davidson who has poured her heart and soul into her character.
