Shooting for season eleven of the Real Housewives of Atlanta begins next week, and star NeNe Leakes and her husband Gregg will allow the Bravo cameras to roll during his cancer battle. Leakes recently revealed her husband’s cancer diagnosis with an emotional post on Instagram, and she wrote that this is now their new normal and “the fight begins.”
“Everything about NeNe and Gregg is going to be filmed for as long as they want. NeNe can call the shots. If she wants Gregg and the situation filmed, it will happen. If she doesn’t and needs time that is fine with Bravo,” an insider told Radar Online.
Leakes is a professional and dedicated to her show, but the source says her family does come first, especially in this situation. However, Gregg’s health scares were a storyline last season.
In her cancer post, Leakes thanked all of the RHOA ladies for sending their love, gifts, and encouraging words. She even appeared to put her differences with her nemesis behind her when the controversial reality star thanked her co-stars by name and wrote, “and yes even @KimZolciak.”
Leakes and Zolciak have been feuding for months after they both returned to Real Housewives of Atlanta for season ten. Zolciak once called Leakes “sick and disgusting” and accused her of living in a “roach nest,” and Leakes found the accusation to be racist.
The 50-year-old also wrote that she and her husband have been overwhelmed by the “outpouring of love, support, thoughtfulness, and prayers,” and added that some people have given them information about diets and holistic options. Leakes says that so far, her husband is “doing great,” and even though he can’t eat a lot he is still feeling good. She also shared that doctors had removed the cancer.

Leakes did not mention what type of cancer her husband had, but she did specify that it was not prostate cancer. Now, she and her husband are making decisions about chemotherapy, and whether or not to start it. And, she asked her fans for advice.
Last month, NeNe Leakes posted about Gregg’s hospitalization, and she has said she would continue to share his treatments on social media. She says they want to be public about his cancer battle, so they can “help the next person or family.”
Gregg also encouraged other men to see the doctor regularly. New episodes of the RHOA will return to Bravo later this year.
