Remy Ma recently discussed the toughest parts during her time in prison from 2008 to 2014. She had to say a lot of things about staying away from her loved ones, losing her freedom and her independence.
She has come a long way since serving those six years in prison. She has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and she joined VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York.
Remy Ma also teamed up with some fantastic rappers such as Cardi B and Lil Kim.
Her time in jail from 2008 to 2014 had a massive impact on who she is now. She recently opened up to Hollywood Life about the hardest things that she had to deal with while she was doing her time.
‘The worst will probably be just I’m very independent. I’ve been like that my whole life. I’ve been pretty much on my own since I was 13. And I’ll give people my last, but I don’t ask anybody for anything.’
Remy stated that she had to struggle really hard with the need to ask all kinds of favors to people, favors that she would have been able to do them herself if she were not imprisoned.
She said that she always had to have people bring her all kinds of things and this was one of the most humiliating things for her at the time, even if she was paying for these.
Being away from her loved ones like her husband Papoose and her son was the hardest thing she had to do.
Even if she struggled with so many things, such as her lack of freedom and more, she concluded that she met some great people there who helped her put things in perspective. We are glad for her and that she was able to keep fighting and go on to have a lovely life and career after she was released.
