Reese Witherspoon has had quite the impressive career in Hollywood. In fact, her success has been compiled in over two decades of work in front of and behind the camera. She’s an Oscar-winning actress who has recently made quite the splash in new HBO hit Big Little Lies.
On the upcoming second season of the runaway hit, she also is credited as producer.
When photos of Witherspoon pelting Meryl Streep with ice cream were taken just a week ago, it became clear that Streep’s new role on the show would ensure a rival out of Witherspoon’s character.
Streep plays Mary Louise Wright, Perry’s mother, while Witherspoon plays Madeline Martha Mackenzie, best friend of Celeste, Perry’s widow.
When asked what was going through her mind during the filming of the ice cream throwing scene, Witherspoon joked that she was focusing on not missing.
Which she did a couple of times as they filmed the scene more than once.
It was all in good fun and the two ladies laughed about it after the scene’s completion.
So much fun, in fact, that Witherspoon calls shooting that scene one of the “top five moments of my career.”
Witherspoon is so excited about where the progression of the show is going in this new season.
“The stories are so good this year. I think people will really love to catch up with these women,” Witherspoon revealed.
The show, based on the book of the same name, provided many twists, stunning turns, immense emotion, standout scenes and incredible music in its first season.
It was a critically acclaimed show that garnered countless nominations and awards.
Due to the cliffhanger finale, where the new season starts and unravels will be interesting and compelling for audiences. Getting Meryl Streep on board in and of itself is an impressive feat.
