Duggar fans all know the famous Cousin Amy Duggar thanks to her multiple appearances on her family’s original reality show 19 Kids & Counting. But, she hasn’t popped up recently on the spinoff Counting On, and that’s because she has a strained relationship with her famous family. Now, Amy has opened up about her family’s broken state.
The 31-year-old recently spoke with Radar Online, and she revealed that her parents’ divorce back in 2015 was hard on her, and it caused her relationship with them to take a drastic turn. She says she found out about her parents’ split via a text message from her dad, Terry Jordan, that he sent on Christmas with claims that he was the victim of “intolerable” treatment from her mom, Deanna Duggar.
When she had the chance to look back on her parents’ failed marriage, Amy realized that their relationship was “just awful,” and she had to take care of herself.

She and her husband, Dillon King, turned to Marriage Boot Camp last year to get help with their marriage in the wake of her parents’ divorce, and she stunned viewers when she revealed that her father was abusive towards her when she was a child.
Amy’s paternal grandmother, Lenora Jordan, denies the claims, but she says that her relationship with her dad is still strained.
“We’ve gone to counseling and I’ve forgiven him for everything he’s done,” said Amy.
The famous cousin says she is grateful for the Marriage Boot Camp experience, but she says that she should have handled things differently when it came to revealing her dad’s alleged abuse on camera. Amy says she should have done that in private.
But, she is proud that she and her dad have finally started to heal, and she has done everything she can, including apologizing. Duggar added that her relationship with her mother is “great.”
However, when it comes to her famous aunt, uncle, and cousins, it seems they are on the outs. A new report claims that the reality TV stars have silenced their cousin and are forcing her to act like they don’t exist.
An insider says that Jim Bob and Michelle will not let Amy talk publicly about their family and have forbidden her to share anything about them on social media. Recently, Cousin Amy deleted all of her Instagram posts that mentioned her famous family.

A couple of years ago, Jim Bob made the rule that if Amy wanted to spend time with his conservative family, she had to go to their home because he would not allow his daughters to visit her in Fayetteville.
She has always done things differently than her strict cousins. She didn’t wait until her wedding day to kiss her husband, and Amy never had an interest in the strict Duggar family dress code. She also recently tweeted about how she disagreed with Bill Gothard and doesn’t follow his teachings or the Institute of Basic Life Principles like her cousins.
But, despite the supposed tension in the family, Amy Duggar says she still loves her aunt, uncle, and cousins.
New episodes of Counting On will return to TLC in July.
