The former wife of the star, Andrea Kelly accused him of abuse on the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries. Now, she took to social media to share a lengthy message about what she went through during their marriage and her healing process.
As you may know, the six part docuseries includes interviews with women claiming they were abused by the singer as well as some from witnesses saying they’d seen Kelly acting inappropriately with his at the time underage protégé Aaliyah.
All these allegations have been denied by the R&B star.
Yesterday, his former wife posted on her Instagram account the screenshot of a Psychology Today article listing all of the side-effects of domestic abuse.
Andrea also slammed those who are supposedly trying to ‘expose her.’
In the caption, she wrote: ‘Thank God for his grace, guidance, love AND deliverance. I celebrate the woman I am TODAY! Though some wanna ‘expose’ the pain-filled, scared, abused woman I was…..STOP! I AM No longer afraid.’
‘No longer willing to silence my PAIN AND TO SUGARCOAT THE ABUSE THAT I ENDURED because of how my abuser and his LEGAL TEAM were THREATENING to come against me if I ‘did not choose wisely. NO MORE! Do not speak about MY GROWTH OR JOURNEY especially if you have NEVER BEEN ABUSED.’
As for those who have experienced or are going through abuse at the moment, Andrea reminded them they are not alone.

Thank God for his grace, guidance, love AND deliverance. I celebrate the women I am TODAY! Though some want “expose” the pain filled, scared, abused women I was…..STOP! I AM No longer afraid. No longer willing to silence my PAIN AND SUGARCOAT THE ABUSE I ENDURED because of how my abuser and his LEGAL TEAM were THREATENING to come against me if I “didn’t choose wisely.” NO MORE! Don’t speak about MY GROWTH OR JOURNEY especially if you have NEVER BEEN ABUSED. And for the ones that have endured my pain and have been in the place I WAS IN YEARS AGO….as in IN MY PAST😳YOU’RE NOT ALONG. From covering bruises and saying you “bumped into the counter” to telling his co-workers he a wonderful provider and a “good man” to avoid a beating for saying the opposite….I was you! I want you to know you don’t have to cover for your abuser ANY MORE!!! It took a lot of therapy and even more tears to know what I know TODAY!!!! Oh did I say TODAY!!!! PS….WHAT I DID or SAID SHOULD NEVER BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN WHY I DID IT OR SAID IT. Do your research on #domesticviolence and the #cycles #signs and #effects before you deem yourself JUDGE AND JURY!!! OH I HAVE SOOOO MUCH MORE TO SAY AND I WILL VERY SOON!!!! #survivor IAMDREAKELLY……
She also made it very clear that she has a lot more to say about her ex-husband’s treatment of her and will not hesitate to do it in court.
Since the first part of the docuseries aired on Lifetime, a number of fellow celebs have also denounced R. Kelly, including Chance the Rapper, Jada Pinkett-Smith and John Legend.
