Scream Queens actress Keke Palmer took to social media to speak out against R. Kelly following the premiere of his six-part docuseries titled Surviving R. Kelly. Here’s what the young female had to say about her former ‘teacher’ and his series.
Palmer informed her Instagram followers that she had just finished watching it and needed to share her reaction with the world.
She noted just how difficult it was for her to realize and accept what kind of person he was despite his many gifts.
‘I have spent the whole last hour crying. As a student of R. Kelly for the time I was, having been around his light and understanding the obstacles that he overcame as a child to be birthed into the musical genius he is today… All to still put others through the same darkness that he was running from is the most disheartening thing to accept,’ Keke started.
She went on to argue that ‘Many people experience hardships and do not allow themselves to find freedom through their passion enough to shine a light. R. Kelly received that grace from God. God blessed him to vindicate his childhood shortcomings, and yet still he slapped God in the face by his actions towards these women.’
The talented star made it clear that she was denouncing the controversial man, claiming that she was saddened and hurt he did not use his talent to bring blessings to all those women he abused.
Instead of doing good, he took advantage of teens and young women, and that is something Keke ‘cannot accept.’
As fans may know, aside from her acting career, Keke has found success in the music industry as well, and she’d actually expressed gratitude towards R. Kelly before, for encouraging her to pursue it.
But now, amid his scandal, Keke is standing with her ‘sisters.’
