It has been less than a month since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot, and we have known for a while that they want to start a family sooner rather than later. But, when it comes to having kids, it seems there will be a complication if they dare to have daughters.
The Hollywood Gossip is reporting that the British peerage system will not allow Harry and Meghan to pass on their titles to their daughters – if they end up having any. When they married, Queen Elizabeth gave them the titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But, old customs that, quite frankly, no one understands will only allow their sons to inherit the title.
Buckingham Palace could not give an explanation for why this is, but in 2018 it is hard for many people to believe that this is actually a rule.

However, it isn’t unheard of for rules to change. Recently, they changed the law when it comes to the line of succession to the throne. In the past, they based succession on gender instead of birth order. That would have meant that when Kate Middleton gave birth to Prince Louis he would have jumped ahead of Princess Charlotte because he was male.
But now, succession is based purely on birth order, and Princess Charlotte remained fourth in line to the throne even though her mom gave birth to another son.
The Queen may have put pressure on Harry and Meghan to have sons by giving them the title of Duke and Duchess of Sussex, but at least she softened the blow by also giving them a country house as a wedding gift.
As for starting a family right away, the National Enquirer is already reporting the newlyweds are expecting twins. The tabloid is claiming that Harry and Meghan visited a fertility clinic and now the Queen is “horrified.”
The outlet also claims that Harry and Meghan are already telling friends but won’t make an official announcement until the end of the first trimester. The Enquirer also uses anonymous sources to reveal that Markle consulted with a nutritionist and Prince Harry is on cleansing supplements and vitamins. But, how these “insiders” know all of this is unclear.
The tabloid also uses a pic of Markle with a baby bump as proof, but the photo is from 2014.
So, it’s pretty hard to believe that there is another royal baby (or two) on the way already. But, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if we get a pregnancy announcement in the next year.
In the meantime, fans are just going to have to be content with following Pippa Middleton’s pregnancy.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have both spoken openly about wanting to start a family, so stay tuned because it will probably happen sooner rather than later.
