The incident happened on walk late at night on the grounds of Buckingham Palace, the site reported.
The Queen, who is currently ill, takes walks late at night around the grounds of the palace. Earlier this week, a guard on patrol saw a shadow in the gardens and immediately thought there was an intruder. But in reality it was non other than Queen Elizabeth.
When the guard, on approaching, perceived that he has been misled, he immediately apologized to the Queen: “Bloody hell!” he said. “Your Majesty, I nearly shot you!”
The queen, amused, replied, “All is well. Next time I’ll ring you in advance so you will not have to shoot me! ”
Fortunately for the guard, everything ended well. He is now warned, that when the queen is sick, she may be lurking in the middle of the night.
Rest assured, the queen is recovering well from a cold which had forced her to miss midnight mass and several New Year’s ceremonies.
