In her new book Harry: Life, Loss, and Love, Royal biographer Katie Nicholl has revealed the turning point in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s romance, and she says it all happened during a trip to Jamaica for Tom Inskip’s wedding early last year. So, how did his friends know that this would be the relationship that would last for Prince Harry?
According to The Daily Mail, Nicholl says that Harry and Markle’s trip to the Caribbean Island helped cement their relationship, and his friends joked that they would be the next to tie the knot.
“The inner circle realized at that point that this was going to do the distance. They’d never seen Harry so happy,” says Nicholl.
Eight months later, their prediction came true, and Harry and Markle announced their engagement.
Today Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle visited the @uniofbath to watch the UK team trials for @invictusgames2018. The couple spoke to some of the veterans hoping for a place in this year’s Games, including Mark Ormrod, a former Royal Marine who lost three limbs in Afghanistan. Mark was presented the ‘Exceptional Performance Award’ after winning a total of four medals at @invictustoronto; two silver medals in indoor rowing and two bronze medals in swimming. Also hoping to make the team is Lamin Manneh, seen here during the shot put trials today, who served in the Irish Guards for five years until being seriously injured in Afghanistan in 2010. If successful, Lamin will represent the UK for a 3rd time this year, having previously taken part in the 2016 and 2017 Invictus Games.
Nicholl started writing the book before the announcement, and she wrote that Harry’s friends started to hint that the relationship “had legs,” and it continued to get serious by the day.
She also revealed that the moment Harry knew Markle was “the one” was when he bought presents for the kids of her close friend Jessica Mulroney. Nicholl says that was when Markle fell in love and explained that it was the Mulroney’s who hid the couple in their Toronto townhouse when the news of their relationship broke in 2016.
The Mulroney’s protected Harry and Markle and knew about their romance from the beginning.
Now, the couple is making multiple joint appearances ahead of their May wedding, and Nicholl says Markle’s ease in front of the camera makes her a perfect choice for the prince. She says it is easy to see her confidence, and she isn’t resistant to the cameras like his previous girlfriends Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas.
The author also says that babies could be in the couple’s near future since family is “very much on the agenda” of the royal couple.
Queen Elizabeth has also given Harry another responsibility by making him the President of the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust. The Trust’s current projects include eradicating hunger, children’s education, and the African Prisons Project – which provides access to legal services for prison inmates in Uganda and Kenya.
The Queen gave Harry the job to help make the organization relevant to the younger generation.
As for the upcoming wedding, it will take place on May 19th at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. And, the American Ambassador to Britain, Robert Wood Johnson, says that it is going to be big and unbelievable. And, he thinks the marriage will strengthen the relationship between the United States and the U.K.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already sent invitations and hired a florist, but as far as her gown goes, we will just have to wait and see.
