Meghan Markle has been under constant public scrutiny thanks to her family drama, and her new husband, Prince Harry, is standing by her side every step of the way. The Duke of Sussex is comforting his wife and giving her his support, and he is doing his best to protect her as they settle into life as a married couple.
“He has been comforting her,” says a royal insider. “He tells his wife not to worry, and that her family’s actions are no reflection on her.”
Markle celebrated her 37th birthday on August 4th, and she held hands with Prince Harry as they attended the wedding of one of his best friends. It was an obvious sign of affection from Harry, and a show of public support for Markle.

Meghan’s father, Thomas Markle, has created drama since before Harry and Meghan got married on May 19th. He got involved in a staged paparazzi photo scandal just days before his daughter’s nuptials, and he recently told a British newspaper that there is “a high price to be married to that [royal] family.”
Thomas has been on his own personal media tour the entire summer, and it has reportedly embarrassed Meghan, not to mention causing strain on their relationship.
But, Meghan’s new family continue to support her. In addition to Harry, her sister-in-law Kate Middleton has advised Meghan because she knows what she is going through. Middleton has reportedly told the Duchess of Sussex to do hold her head up high and do her best because she hasn’t done anything wrong.
Some reports claim that Harry and Meghan have considered using an “aggressive strategy” to end the ongoing drama, but others say that she has no intention of setting “the record straight” when it comes to her dad.
“Meghan doesn’t think it’s a fair game between her father and the media, so she’s not going to engage in it or instruct anyone on her behalf to set the record straight. There have always been fears over his vulnerability. Now he’s got himself into a cycle of talking publicly. It’s very sad,” says an insider.

While Thomas continues to discuss his daughter’s personal life in the media, Meghan and Harry are taking a break, and they plan to visit the Queen at Balmoral Castle, her summer retreat. Then, the newlyweds are going to escape to their cottage in the Cotswolds.
Instead of engaging with Thomas by making public attempts to offer him support, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry prefer to spend time relaxing in the garden, cooking together, and enjoying long walks. The prince is reportedly doing “whatever it takes” to help his wife feel relaxed before returning to work in September.
