Pregnant Kate Middleton Took A Very Special Loan From The Queen To Celebrate Their 70th Anniversary

Kate Middleton is known for her classic style, and the Duchess recently stepped out in some very special, timeless jewelry while celebrating the Queen’s 70th wedding anniversary. Wearing a pearl choker from the Queen’s collection, Middleton continued a style tradition just like her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.
According to People magazine, the pregnant royal arrived at Windsor Castle to celebrate the platinum anniversary of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in the four-strand pearl choker with a diamond clasp. Queen Elizabeth commissioned the piece using a collection of cultured pearls given to her by the Japanese government and wore it throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s.
The monarch has loaned the piece out once before – to Princess Diana in 1982 when she wore it at a state banquet for the Netherlands.
But, the necklace wasn’t the only piece loaned to Middleton for the evening. She also wore the Collingwood pearl and diamond earrings, which is a part of Diana’s private collection. The earrings were a wedding present to the late Princess of Wales, and the Duchess wore them once before at a state banquet for the Spanish royals.
In addition to wearing jewelry on loan, Middleton also recycled her favorite black lace Diane Von Furstenberg gown. This is the same dress that Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle has worn her own version of, and the Duchess wore it earlier this month for a gala at Kensington Palace. She also wore it when she was pregnant with Princess Charlotte in November 2014 and then again, a month later at a friend’s wedding.
Prince William and Prince Harry were both dressed in black tie as they accompanied Middleton the to the party. 91-year-old Queen Elizabeth looked radiant in an Angela Kelly long-sleeved cream dress and a yellow gold scarab brooch.
The Sun reports that the bells of Westminster Abbey – where Elizabeth and Philip married back in 1947 – rang for more three hours to mark the occasion, which included a full peal of involving 5,070 sequence changes.
Five years after they married, Elizabeth became Queen and Philip has been by her side ever since. Prince Harry said in a documentary celebrating her first 60 years on the throne, that the support Philip gives to his grandmother is “phenomenal.”
