According to a report from NBC News, the police have arrested a suspect related to the fatal shooting of Nipsey Hussle. The perpetrator killed Nipsey at the scene of the crime and the two others present were injured. The man identified by the police was Eric Holder, 29, of LA. The police took him into custody in Bellflower, southeast of LA County.
Insiders who spoke with the outlet claim Holder was detained after a reported sighting of a man matched his description.
Authorities claim Holder was seen on Sunday afternoon walking up to Hussle while firing shots in the parking lot of The Marathon Clothing store. The store, belonging to the deceased rapper, is in Hyde Park of Los Angeles.
Hussle, born Ermias Asghedom, was later pronounced dead from gunshot wounds to his head and torso. Ermias was 33-years-old. The other men in the shooting were not identified, and one of them went to the hospital while the other one did not.
Michel Moore, the Police Chief, said at a news conference today that Holder, known as a gang member, and Hussle actually knew each other personally and they had gotten into a personal fight before the incident.
Reportedly, the man had approached Nipsey and the others to have a brief conversation. He later returned with a gun and opened fire. After the shooting, Holder ran into an alley and was picked up by a woman driving a getaway vehicle.
Hussle came of age in the Crenshaw neighborhood of South Los Angeles. Nispey and the other two co-owners opened the store in June 2017 and it was marketed as a “smart store,” a place where fans could buy exclusive products on their phone.
In 2018, Nipsey released his very first album called, Victory Lap. It was given two nominations for best rap album this year at the Grammy Awards. Nipsey was known not only as a great artist but also as a leader and father-figure. After his death was announced, many artists in the hip-hop community paid tribute.
