The Saturday Night Live star is shooting back at the people saying his mental illness is affecting girlfriend Ariana Grande in a negative way! Here’s what he had to say!
As you may already know, Ariana and Pete Davidson started dating earlier in the month.
Before that, last year, the comedian opened up about his struggle with borderline personality disorder.
Today, he took to social media to address the stigma surrounding his condition.
‘Normally I would not comment on something like this cause like f**k you. But I have been hearing a lot of ‘people with BPD cannot to be in relationships’ talk. I just wanna let you know that is not true. Just because someone has a mental illness doesn’t mean they cannot be happy and in a relationship. It also does not mean that person makes the relationship toxic,’ the 24-year-old started his passionate letter.
Pete is regularly treated to keep his Crohn’s disease and his substance abuse problems under control, and he has made it very clear before that getting professional help ‘changed [his] life for the better.’
He went on: ‘I just think it is f**ked up to stigmatize people as crazy and say they are unable to do stuff that anyone can do. It isn’t their fault, and it is the wrong way for people to look at things. I may be crazy but at least I am aware of it and not afraid, to be honest about it, and I am not hiding behind a Twitter or Instagram account.’
‘I am simply writing this because I want everyone out there who has an illness to know that it is not true and that anyone who says that is ill and full of s**t. Mental illness isn’t a joke it is a real thing. There are kids out there killing themselves. And it’s f**king horrific. For all those struggling I want you to know I love you and I understand you, and it’s going to be okay. That is all. Love to everyone else,’ he concluded his message.
