NCIS has a new forensic scientist now that Abby (Pauley Perrette) is out of the picture. The Season 16 premiere introduced Kasie Hines, played by Diona Reasonover, as Abby’s replacement. With the new season of NCIS officially underway, Reasonover opened up about how Kasie will mesh with her new team – and it sounds like she will have no trouble fitting in.
“Kasie is a great team player, and so she’s in it,” Reasonover dished.
Reasonover’s character is joining the show during a challenging time for the team. At the end of last season, Jigel Hakim (Pej Vahdat) kidnapped Vance (Rocky Carroll) and the team is still scrambling to find their missing director.

Although her character is new on the scene, Reasonover revealed that Kasie immediately puts herself to work and does everything she can to help.
Reasonover was featured as a recurring character last season who mainly helped Ducky (David McCallum) finish his book. Once she found out about Perrette’s departure, Reasonover hoped that producers would promote her to a series regular.
When she got the official casting call, an excited Reasonover immediately called her mom to announce the good news. It is going to be hard filling Perrette’s shoes, but so far, Reasonover is off to a good start with her new team.

Speaking of Perrette, Reasonover also revealed that the former NCIS star gave her some advice when they worked together last season. Reasonover complimented Perrette for being a sweet person and a “grounding force” to be around.
In regard to her part, Perrette told Reasonover to bring an element of herself to the part and she will have nothing to worry about.
Pauley Perrette announced her shocking departure at the end of last season. She was a part of the hit series for the first 15 seasons. New episodes of NCIS air Tuesday nights on CBS.
