The presidential election of this year created chaos in the entire nation and people either rejoiced or coped with the results in many ways. Of course, chaos ensued across the country and even over the world.
The citizens reacted, the politicians reacted, even the celebrities made their points of view known following the final verdict in the political fight of the century. The opinions were many but mostly disappointed voices were heard.
For instance, Michel Jackson’s only daughter, Paris Jackson was so unhappy about Donald Trump’s victory that she chose to express her disdain on social media by using dark humor.
The 18 year old daughter of the late musical legend posted on Twitter a picture of a man contemplating suicide, looking at a noose. The photo lacked any caption but it was a powerful image that easily expressed what she intended.
We understand the dark humor involved and it is maybe even a bit relate-able in this situation but of course suicide is no laughing matter for Paris who has actually shared before that she contemplated suicide herself, even went through with it once, attempting to take her own life.
She shared about the heartbreaking event, saying:
“When I was 14, I got so much hatred that I tried to kill myself and I took, like, a two-year break from social media, and then people asked me to come back, to make my Instagram public again, so I did. And nothing changed!” she said in tears. “I’m just tired of it. I’m just really, really tired. And, I mean, I know I’m not the only one.”
It looks like Paris was in a really dark place just a couple of months ago when she made her struggle with suicidal thought public. Was she able to get over it and now she can freely joke around about suicide? It seems unlikely in such a short time. In that case, is this more than dark humor and rather a cry for help?
