Sam Heughan was at his finest on the red carpet during the Vanity Fair Oscar Party on Sunday night. The Outlander star attended the star-studded event with his girlfriend, Mackenzie Mauzy. Although the two attended the party together, she did not join him for photos.
Heughan’s personal stylist Monty Jackson posted a photo of him and Mauzy preparing for the big night on social media. Heughan looked dapper in a stylish tux while Mauzy rocked a silver and black dress.
The two have been dating for quite some time now, though they rarely go out in public. In fact, Heughan has kept his relationship with Mauzy a secret until only recently.
Oscars aside, Heughan is currently in the middle of filming Season 4 of Outlander with co-star Caitriona Balfe. Prior to the Oscars, Heughan shared a photo of himself on an eight mile run in the middle of a blizzard in Scotland. While Heughan is clearly devoted to his fitness regime, he admitted that he may have taken things a bit too far this time around.
Fortunately, Heughan got a break from the cold weather when he flew to Los Angeles over the weekend. But this won’t be Heughan’s only trip to California this year.
The Outlander star will be promoting his upcoming film, The Spy Who Dumped Me, later this year. He filmed the movie with Mila Kunis and Kate McKinnon last summer.
As far as Outlander is concerned, production has been hampered by the cold weather in Scotland. Although the snow has finally subsided, it’s still blistering cold for the cast and crew. Here’s to hoping things start to warm up so that they can get things wrapped up as quickly as possible.
In the meantime, producers recently set up shop in Canada for a surprise casting call for Season 4. Auditions were held for a second day in North Bay, Ontario over the weekend, with over 200 people hoping to score a scene in the upcoming season. Most of the fans applying for the show had to wait outside for hours, which is pretty impressive given the wintry weather.
Producers are looking for extras to fill in some scenes in Season 4, which is based on the fourth book in Diana Gabaldon’s hit series, Drums of Autumn.
Those who are selected for the parts will get a free plane ride to Scotland, where they will spend up to four weeks on location filming. Travel and food expenses will be paid for the extras, along with compensation for any scenes they take part in.
Production for Season 4 of Outlander is expected to continue for the next few months (weather permitting). Starz has not announced an official premiere date for the season, though it should arrive sometime later in 2018.
