Oliver Hudson was in attendance at ABC’s upfront presentation in NYC, and there he opened up about missing out on the opportunity to audition for the character of Jack Pearson on This Is Us. Apparently, the actor only recently realized it and revealed that instead of being there, he went on a fishing trip.
‘I said that in passing and it has blown up now. I mean, yeah, I was supposed to have a chemistry read and who knows if I’d have gotten the show, but I was scheduled to attend a fishing trip, and I love to fish, and I loved the script, but I love to fish, and I chose fishing,’ Hudson told ET.
And supposedly it was worth it because ‘I caught a 271-pound tuna, my biggest fish I have ever caught. So there’s an upside, you know.’ Right…because those two things are equally valuable!
The actor praised Milo Ventimiglia, who went on to get the part and do an amazing job.
‘That is just the role he should be doing,’ Hudson mentioned.
But while he missed on being part of This is Us, Hudson landed a very important role in Splitting Up Together.
The star is playing one half of a couple who manage to reconnect right in the midst of their divorce.
ABC has announced not too long ago that there is going to be a season two!
Hudson hinted at what we should expect.
‘We’ve been talking about it, because they are going through this process, and at the end of this season something happens that now we have to take into season two to figure out how these people are going to work together in a different way. That is sort of what I can say. But more of the same, you know – what it is like to co-parent and sacrifice and have different ideas on how things are supposed to be and how we communicate those things. It is all the same themes, and it’s funny,’ he shared.
