Nikki Bella made it very clear that she doesn’t want to be defined by her failed relationship with John Cena. But that’s not all! Apparently, she is no longer legally allowed to even mention his name publicly so no more discussions about him during interviews!
During a new interview for Cosmopolitan, Nikki stated that ‘We’re both at the point that we just do not want to be talked about at all together anymore. We do not want our breakup to define us or to interfere with our work. And that was happening for a while.’
She then went on to claim she ‘cannot say his name, legally, anymore,’ but can refer to him as ‘my ex.’
To be fair, she may not have been serious about that as she looked at her sister Brie and smiled as she said it. Maybe it’s an inside joke between the twins?
Not to say that it isn’t possible she is telling the truth as on Total Bellas, Nikki previously revealed that back in 2013, Cena made her sign a legal document, 75 pages long before she could move in with him and even referred to her as his ‘guest!’
That being said, she explained she has no intention of entering another public relationship in the future.
‘After going through all of that, I do not ever want to do it ever again. It scares me to have another public relationship.’
She added that ‘I do not want my relationships to define who I am, as a woman. And to take away all of the hard work that I have ever done in my career. I think that for a man, it is different. I feel like, if anything, the woman gets blamed for whatever happens, for taking away from what they do. But I get all of my work taken away because of that. I don’t know, I feel like sometimes there is a double standard and I’ve really felt that. And it has been really, really hard.’
This new interview comes amid rumors that they are back together but judging by her comments, it’s safe to bet that is not true at all!
